2018 So Far...SO GOOD

We are almost at the end of March and it's been a crazy 3 months for James Shaw Photography. Some incredible Simcha's, late nights, partying hard with some of the most "Mad For It" people out there!. I've photographed some lovely venues and worked with some of the best party planners, caterers, dancers and suppliers in the business. I've eaten some delicious food, boogied to some superb tunes and even fallen off the stage a couple of times!! (nothing too serious) but when you have a passion for your job you tend to throw everything you have at it..which is what I always strive to do!.

Here are some of my highlights of the year so far. As for the rest of the 2018...BRING IT!!

...Watch this space

Exciting times ahead here at James Shaw Photography. I've recently been branching out into the world of corporate photography and so far so good as they say. I've completed a brochure containing environmental portraits for a luxuryYacht design studio. I've also been busy with headshots and environmental portraits for various city law firms and my regular gig photographing investitures at Buckingham palace, The House of Lords and The Royal Courts of Justice. So the time is approaching to launch my new (Business brand).

My new website is in the design process at present, but I hope to be launching very soon. The new website will run separately to www.jamesshawphotos.co.uk

The British Fashion Awards

Last night was one of the biggest events of the fashion calendar, the British Fashion Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall.  The red carpet was full of celebrities from the world of fashion and entertainment including Selena Gomez, Pink and the Victoria's Secrets models. Done for another year...enjoy

Prince Harry gets engaged

I was planning on spending today doing 3 things after I got up. One was to have a meeting with a potential Client, then catch up on some editing and finally I was going to get myself down to the afternoon showing of "Justice League". Great I thought, sounds like a plan and I'll get to spend the evening at home. That was until I got a call from my agent at 10 asking me if I'd seen the news about Prince Harry and his girlfriend, Meghan Markle announcing their engagement and that there would be a photocell outside Kensington Palace, and could I make it...OF COURSE I COULD!!.

The Press office for the palace did a draw to see what positions we would have for the photocall..I got 67, and to be honest it wasn't so bad. Freezing my nuts off, but all worth it I thought. Justice League will have to wait

Hyper Japan Cosplay

I saw this event pop up as a sponsored ad on Facebook and I decided to check it out yesterday..the power of sponsored ad's works ;) The event is running at Tobacco dock, Wapping from the 24-26th November. Lots of really cool things to see and to eat and drink, I tried some awesome Sake and some Soy Ramen noodle soup which was delicious.

Also there were lots of colourful cosplayers recreating their fav Anime characters. I've said this before, they really put loads of effort into their costumes.

Isabel's Batmitzvah

Bleary eyed and I've lost my voice, just another full on weekend of partying. Last night was with the lovely Rose family celebrating Isabel's Batmitzvah. DJ Matt Frankel provided the soundtrack, Luvli Events provided the decor and Jagbir Basin filmed everything!

The BFI London Film Festival Highlights

Another year another London Film Festival done. Leicester Square has been my second home for the last 10 days with some other visits to London Cinema's thrown in.  Tricky one to really think of the best premiere. My favourite job was the "My Generation" premiere at the Curzon Chelsea with Sir Michael Caine attending. The photo of Sir Michael posing next to a poster of him from the 1960's was my favourite pic from the film festival...Normal service now resumes.

London Fashion Week SS18

It's that time of the year again. To be honest I've got off pretty lightly this season as I can only do a couple of days, but that's enough!. It started with the kooki duo Vin + Omi on Monday featuring the magnificent Debbie Harry walking the catwalk, and on opening day I covered the Adidas show by Hailey Baldwin with Jude Law's son Rafferty walking the catwalk and finishing off with a theatrical spectacular at the London Palladium by Joshua Kane. Busy Barmitzvah(ing) this weekend. Normal service resumes on Monday

Strictly Come Dancing launch

Been a bit late posting this one, but bear with me...been a mad week. BBC Broadcasting house on a humid Bank holiday Monday played host to the launch for the new series of 'Strictly Come Dancing'. More Spandex and sequins than you can shake a stick at and collection of contestants from the world of music, tv, stage...and even a representative from the church will be shaking his funky thang...

Cirkus Cirkör

I photographed them today...great performances..can't think of much else to say really, so here's a bit of background I liberated from Wiki.

Cirkus Cirkör is a Swedish circus company, and is today Scandinavia's leading performing circus company within the art form of contemporary circus. Cirkus Cirkör has toured the world with a number of successful and praised circus shows. The company has also been influential in establishing new schools and training courses for aspiring contemporary circus artists in Sweden and Scandinavia.

Celebrity Big Brother

Last night saw the start of the summer season of Celebrity Big Brother and once again loads of "Ex's" entered the Big Brother house in Elstree Studios. Looks like it has the makings of a good one this year. Best outfit of the evening hands down goes to American Blogger Trisha Paytas.

Photography Training

Do you own a shiny new DSRL camera but have absolutely no idea how it works? Would you like to know how to use it?

Here’s your chance…

I’ve never offered this before and places are strictly limited and if it’s successful then I’ll try and run this on a more regular basis.

The course will run for a full day (10am - 4pm) and will take place on location in London. We will start the day with a basic equipment briefing where I will explain the basics of your camera (over a Latte and a pastry!). Once we’ve covered the basics we will go out and explore some great locations where you’ll get the opportunity to move away from Auto mode and find out what your camera is really capable of!!. You will learn how to make the most of the semi-automatic modes on your camera, what does ISO mean, aperture, shutter speed and depth of field.

You will also learn the basics of composition and learn the fundamentals of lighting.

We will meet at a location in Central London which will be easily accessible by tube

Morning Refreshments and a light Lunch will be included in the price. Each session will be limited to 2 people so I can give you as much one on one time as possible.

After the session your photos will be edited and compiled into a professional slideshow to share with friends and family. All of the images will be edited by me and available to you on my password protected client gallery where you can download the high resolution files.

Fantastic gift for the photo enthusiast!

London Film and Comicon 2017 Day 1

Today I popped my comic convention cherry. Never been to one before although I'm a huge fan of all things sci-fi and superhero related. Took a while to get going but ended up really enjoying the day. The Cosplayers were amazing, my favourite was the couple who paid homage to the Netflix series "Stranger Things"...AND HODOR!!!

Talia's Batmitzvah at Gilgamesh

We partied the night away with Talia and her family at Gilgamesh, London to celebrate Talia's Batmitzvah. Lovely venue and amazing food!. Paul from Proactive events kept us moving all evening. Really nice to shoot around the market in Camden Town as there's so many cool things going on, and it was great to get some pics of Talia in her gorgeous outfit (Supplied by The Hadley Bridal Collection by Rebecca Rinder) taken around the famous market before the guests arrived.

Jordan's Barmitzvah

It seemed like a really long time ago I was booked to photograph Jordan Smith's (UP THE VILLA) Barmitzvah. last night was the night of the party at Apollonia. Such a fabulous evening with a lovely group of people. DJ Matt Frankel kept us dancing all night, John Rose captured everything on video, Gorgeous table centrepieces were supplied by Luvli Events, and Michelle and her team made sure we all had lots to eat and drink (as they usually do) Enjoy the photos. James

Paige's Batmitzvah

Still recovering from the madness that was Paige's Batmitzvah last night at Vanilla. This was the third simcha I've photographed for the Reuben family so it really seemed less like work and more like a gathering of old friends!. The highlight for me was Paige's mum, dad and sister singing a rendition of "Master of the house" from Les Miserables as part of the welcome speech...loved it. and I definitely believe now that no one parties harder than the JFS crew ;)
